Isotretinoin For Acne?
I have recently started taking isotretinoin for acne. I’m 16 and have severe acne in terms of its stubbornness more than its appearance as I tried everything else before and nothing worked.
Before you continue reading this, please leave and do not answer if you’re going to list the dangerous but extremely rare side effects because I know them and obviously considered this before taking them.
Anyway, I have REALLY dry lips with cuts in the corners which are very painful. Can anyone recommend anything because Vaseline ect doesn’t work? The inside of my nose is also dry and I have frequent nose bleeds as a result (including one in my chemistry exam today which was rather amusing), so is there anything I can do to ease it?
Also, despite the dry lips and nose, my skin really isn’t that dry. I use a moisturiser after washing it because it feels tight, and it is a bit dry but nothing like I expected. Is this an indication that my dose isn’t high enough? My acne has improved drastically, but I do still get some spots, so it’s not completely gone.
My dermatologist says it can take a while together the perfect dose, but do you think he’ll put it up? I’m on 50mg a day at the moment, and weigh 84kg and am 1.84 metres tall and am a girl.
Thanks in advance

Hi there.
I took it for 8 months last year- stick with it no matter what as it works wonders. It will take your while course to notice 100% results, and even after taking it you will still get the occasional spot around your period etc, but they are no where near as stubborn and only last a day or so before going.
I had nose bleeds and dry lips too, but Vaseline was the only thing I used. You literally have to smother it on and carry around everywhere. Even put some up your nose with a cotton bud!
My skin wasn’t that dry either but I did what you did and just used a light moisturizer. Stick with the Vaseline, it will work in the end
good luck!
Just out of interest have you had and joint/ back pain? I did and I still get it now occassionally.
Use burts & bee’s chapstick, or basically any other type of chapstick OFTEN. Also, a humidifier in your room can help with your nose. Vaseline or some specific nasal moisture product inside of your nose works as well.
